Padres Sending Seven Prospects to the Arizona Fall League

San Diego, CA- The San Diego Padres this afternoon announced that prospects Hunter Renfroe, Trea Turner, Jace Peterson, Mallex Smith, Tayron Guerrero, Brandon Alger and Justin Hancock will represent the San Diego Padres in the Arizona Fall League.

Turner was drafted by the Padres with the 13th overall pick in this years MLB draft and has performed well so far for the Padres. Turner is currently playing in low Single-A Fort Wayne and is batting .387 with four home runs, 20 RBIs and 13 steals.

Renfroe was drafted by the Padres with the 13th overall pick in last years draft and is on the fast-track to San Diego. Renfore began the season in High Single-A Lake Elsinore, before being promoted to Double-A San Antonio. Renfroe on the season is batting .273 with 20 home runs homers and 73 RBIs.

Smith could be the next Billy Hamilton, as he leads all of minor league baseball with 87 steals. Smith began the season in low Single-A Fort Wayne, before being promoted to High Single-A Lake Elsinore.

    Guerrero on the season is (6-1) with a 1.29 ERA, 54 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings out of the bullpen between low Single-A Fort Wayne and High Single-A Lake Elsinore. Guerrero was selected to the futures all-star game this season and with his 100 mph fastball, he could be the Padres next elite reliever out of the pen.
