San Diego,CA- Will Leitch of sportsonearth.com in his article “THE NFL’S MOST TORTURED FAN BASES” ranked the Charger fans as the 7th most tortured fan base in the NFL.

Here’s what Leitch had to say about the Chargers.

"(Super Bowl appearances: 1. Super Bowl wins: 0.) Don’t sleep on the Chargers, pain-wise. They’ve had legit Hall of Fame superstar talents (Dan Fouts, LaDainian Tomlinson) but have never done that much with them: Somehow, the Chargers only won one more playoff game with LaDainian than the Jets did. For a couple of years there, the Chargers looked like the best team in the NFL. Even though they did make the playoffs this year, that feels like a long time ago now."

From losing to the 49ers 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX and the past decade of underachieving playoff runs and missed Nate Kaeding’s field-goals, Charger fans have received their fair share of torture from the hometown team.

The Pittsburgh Steelers fans were ranked as the most spoiled with the most Super Bowl wins (6). The Buffalo Bills fans were ranked as the most tortured fan base. While you could make a case for the Browns or Jaguars as the most tortures fan base……the Buffalo Bills fans are still the most tortured as they have not made the playoffs since 1999, the longest drought in the NFL and honestly what other fan base has to deal with the pain of being the only team in NFL history to go to the Super Bowl four straight times and lose the Super Bowl four straight times.
