San Diego Padres blowout the Cardinals 12-1

San Diego, CA- The San Diego Padres gave rookie starting pitcher Jesse Hahn some run support on his birthday, as the Padres blew out the St. Louis Cardinals 12-1.

The San Diego Padres 12 runs tonight were the most runs they’ve scored at Petco Park since May 19th of last season.
Jesse Hahn was impressive once again, allowing only one run on four hits and four strikeouts in seven innings of work. Hahn improved to (7-2) on the season and according to San Diego Padres Communications Coordinator Patrick Kurish since 1914, Jesse Hahn is one of four Major League Baseball pitchers to have 7+ wins and an ERA 2.01 or better within his first 8 career games.
The Padres scored the games first run in the bottom of the 1st as Alexi Amarista scored on an RBI single by Yangervis Solarte to give the Padres a 1-0 lead. Alexi Amarista scored once again in the bottom of the third on a wild pitch to extend the Padres lead to 2-0.
Gyorko would extend the Padres lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth on a solo-home run, his sixth of the season and first since May 9th. Will Venable would add on an RBI single to score Yonder Alonso to increase the Padres lead to 4-0.
The Padres offense would explode in the bottom of the seventh, scoring eight runs on a RBI single by Solarte, a three-run double by Gyorko and a three-run home run by Will Venable to increase the Padres lead to 12-1.
