Chargers Branden Oliver and Dontrelle Inman make their presence felt

San Diego, CA- As always in the preseason fans and the Chargers coaching staff look for the players that standout and prove they should be on the 53 man roster.

More from San Diego Chargers

Last night running back Branden Oliver and wide receiver Dontrelle Inman made their presence felt and showed why they should be on the 53 man roster.

Branden Oliver ran all over the Cowboys defense for 64 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Oliver showed off his speed and toughness.

Overall the Chargers showed their excellent depth at running back by rushing for 152 yards on 42 carries by
Branden Oliver, Marion Grice, Donald Brown, Ryan Mathews, Danny Woodhead and Kerywnn Williams.

Unfortunately the Chargers can’t keep all their backs and another NFL team is gonna get a solid running back from this group.

  • Dontrelle Inman signed with the Chargers this off-season after two excellent seasons in the CFL. Last night Inman made his presence felt with three catches for 107 yards and a TD. His touchdown came on a 70-yard pass, as Inman showed off his speed and raced past the Cowboys secondary for the touchdown.

After the game Malcom Floyd told Chargers.com Ricky Henne, Inmans performance doesn’t surprise him.

"“I’ve seen him in the spring and in training camp, and he’s been a playmaker the whole time,” Floyd said. “So it’s not too surprising to see him do it out here on the field. It definitely helped us and was a big playmaker with all three of his catches. And he had over 100 yards so it was great to see.”"

I expect both Branden Oliver and Dontrelle Inman to make the 53-man roster. Inman will be a nice target for Philip Rivers and I believe he’s a better receiver than Vincent Brown and Seyi Ajirotutu. Branden Oliver brings excellent speed and toughness to the Chargers offense and he also gives the Chargers insurance in case of an injury to Matthews, Woodhead or Brown.
