San Diego Padres Sweep Rockies In A 5-3 Victory
San Diego, CA- The San Diego Padres came into Petco Park looking to sweep the Colorado Rockies. They are on a roll and planned to continue their momentum.

The Padres started off strong with Rene Rivera driving in Yangervis Solarte to give them a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. They were able to get at Rockies starter Tyler Matzek early and gain the advantage.
Charlie Blackmon was able to drive in DJ LeMahieu to tie the game in the top of the 3rd. Ian Kennedy did not look rattled by the run and kept his cool to get out of the inning.
The highlight of the game came in the bottom of the 4th when Rymer Liriano hit a shot to the 3rd deck of the Western Metal building. That gave them a 3-1 lead.
DJ LeMahieu led off the 5th inning with a home run then Justin Morneau drove in Drew Stubbs to tie the game at 3 runs.

Jedd Gyorko started off the bottom of the 5th with a double which led to Yasmani Grandal getting a sacrifice fly to drive in Gyorko.
Abraham Almonte would clinch the lead with a home run that gave the Padres a 5-3 lead. The bullpen came in to shutdown the Rockies and Joaquin Benoit picked up the save.
The San Diego Padres will travel to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals on August 14 at 5:15 p.m. Pacific. This is the start of a 10 game road trip.
