Yangervis Solarte returns to the San Diego Padres line-up

San Diego, CA- Yangervis Solarte returned to the Padres line-up today and is slated to start at third base and bat lead-off, after missing the past two games with oblique issues.

After being pulled in the seventh inning with what was thought to be a mild left oblique strain, Solarte missed the first two games of a four-game set with the Cardinals before returning to the lineup Saturday.
San Diego Padres third baseman Yangervis Solarte left Wednesday’s game in the top of the seventh inning with a mild left oblique strain and was considered day to day the past few games.
Yangervis Solarte was injured in the top of the seventh, when while fielding a ground ball up the middle at shortstop and appeared to injuire his oblique making the throw to first. Solarte was immediately replaced by Alexi Amarista.
Yangervis Solarte started at shortstop for the second time in his career yesterday due to Everth Cabrera being placed on the DL and backup shortstop Alexi Amarista being given a day off.

Solarte in his brief time with the Padres since being acquired in the Chase Headley deal has impressed the team and its fans.
Yangervis Solarte since joining the Padres is batting .282 with three home runs and 11 RBIs. Yangervis Solarte is a solid player and has brought an aurora of confidence and swagger to the Padres. While the Padres do have prospects Cory Spangenberg and Taylor Lindsey who project to start at second base, if Yangervis Solarte continues to produce then the Padres may have to consider him as a full-time starter at either second or third base.
