San Diego Padres Andrew Cashner throws his third career shutout

San Diego, CA- San Diego Padres Andrew Cashner was dominant Monday night as he pitched a two-hit shutout to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 1-0. For Andrew Cashner this was his 3rd career shutout and second shutout of the season, as he previously shutout the Detroit Tigers on April 11.

More from San Diego Padres

Andrew Cashner improved to (4-7) on the season, after allowing no runs on two hits with seven strikeouts in 9 innings of work.

Andrew Cashner retired the first 11 batters he faced until Dominic Brown broke up the no-hitter in the top of the fifth with a bunt single. Brown was met with heavy boo’s from the Padres fans in attendance and it was well deserved. The Phillies tried to sell that it was only a one run game and that they were trying to win the game….but lets be realistic it was a game between two under .500 teams and the Padres have never had a no-hitter in their franchises history. So if your gonna break-up the no-hitter….earn it…don’t get some cheap bunt with the infield shift on.
